Thanks for all the answers. I managed to retrieve revision 1 and 2 of the subobject in the comparison method of the main object by using the methods defined in OFS.History and comparing _p_mtime. It works fine. I have something like a historical connection.
It does not help with the history merging but it helps to present a consistent view once you have chosen a time you are interested in.
