Update IE to the latest version. That's usually the problem for these symptoms - somehow older versions of IE5 didn't communicate right with Zope.

For what it's worth, this also happens with w3m ( text-based browser ) and OmniWeb for Mac OS X. I've been told it has to do with the way Authentication Headers are sent.
