i cant say about asia in general, but in Malaysia, opensource movement *is* there. there's my-opensource.org that tries to get opensource into schools and government. there are linux effort (lugs, translation) www.my-linux.org. there are also zope users , but there's no real lugs of sort right now. but it seems that opensource in malaysia does not involve programming, really (there's no/a few opensource projects).. more of an effort to get the general public see opensource in all its glory -- test
