Hello, You asked for comments on the new layout: you got it! I admit it is useful for the new folks to have the new layout. But for the zealots, it is useful to have the old layout, with all the news *and* the summary for each news. Perhaps 'Zope News' headline would be a link to a page containing the news with their summary??? Regards, Jephte CLAIN minf7@educ.univ-reunion.fr
If you click the More... link underneath the news abstracts, you will be presented with a page of news much like the old format. Ava wrote:

I propose there should be a link on the navigation bar ('Search', 'Documentation' .etc..) called 'News' that has the old 'slash' style news display. -Michel

I agree about the quickstart news /. eyeful that they current site has (or has it changed?) is very useful for me to 'keep up' with the current head of steam, as my 2 cents in concerned. I would bookmark a page like that and leave the 'marketing' page to the first timers. Howdy all. Please note that "More" under "Zope News" has the old style display. Question: do you think we should have a knob available for members that lets them toggle the home page between old style and new style? --Paul

That's one option, but I think I would still advocate creating a "dev.zope.org". To start with, they can be almost the same (dev would have the news as the main front door). www.zope.org would include marketing materials, high level information about projects that are underway, maybe highlight some Zope based sites. Press-release type news can be on here. dev.zope.org would include developer-specific news, documentation, Products, link to CVS, etc. I think this arrangement provides a way for people to quickly navigate to what they want. (dev.zope.org could, of course, be www.zope.org/dev or some such). Since www.zope.org and dev.zope.org would have different target audiences, this kind of separation allows complete freedom in creating navigation for the different groups. Kevin

Also, providing visual aids for what constitutes a headlinetopic, and a visual separaor between topics might be a ood idea. Harry
