Hi, Just to let everyone know: I was totally blown away by the energy and enthusiasm for the Zope Fat Client stuff. So much so that I've gone ahead and applied for a Source Forge poject. The aim of this is to get some kind fo shared space that's devoted to the project so we can all explore what it is we want from it and how we're going to implement it. I'll let you know when I get a notification back :-) cheers, and thanks for all the input, this has a pretty good feel about it right now... Chris
Source Forge project for this sounds great! More than slightly Off Topic, but I have a bizarre problem of being unable to access SourceForge from IE 5.5 on Win98SE which I just haven't had time to deal with, though I guess I'll have to now to follow this very interesting project. More than 90% of the time when I click on a Source Forge link my browser completely freezes (not just that window) requiring a complete browser restart. Seems to be associated with the ads display. My guess is that it's some bizarre phenomenon unique to me that isn't worth investigating and I should just fire up Netscape when accessing Sourceforge. I used to have no problem and cannot recall any change at my end before the problem started quite a while ago. Other possibility is that maybe almost everyone who uses Sourceforge does so using Netscape anyway so the problem exists at their end and either hasn't been reported and fixed or has been reported and won't be fixed because they don't particularly care about IE users. Just occurred to me that Zope Source Forge users might include a higher proportion of IE users than average so somebody might be able to tell me if it's a known problem or if there is a known solution other than switching to Netscape. As this is Off Topic, if anyone wants to help, please reply just to me, not the list, with either confirmation that you are able to access Source Forge regularly using IE (mention version number) and Windows (ditto) or if you have experienced this problem yourself (with same info) and even better if you know of any solution. I'll summarize to list if any of the people replying ask me to. BTW another possibility that occurred to me, equally Off Topic, is that weird Australian pretense at internet censorship could be causing this in view of it appearing to happen while downloading ads - ie the Telstra Bigpond cable ISP may be blocking some ads site that also handles porn and the blocking may be causing the freeze (though I don't see how that could cause *all* further use of browser to freeze). So responses from other Australian Bigpond cable users would be especially interesting (though a discussion of either the stupidity of Australian censorship or the wisdom of using Netscape rather than IE on this list would not ;-) -----Original Message----- From: zope-admin@zope.org [mailto:zope-admin@zope.org]On Behalf Of Chris Withers Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2001 8:25 PM To: zope@zope.org Cc: andyd@nipltd.com Subject: [Zope] Zope Fat Client Project Hi, Just to let everyone know: I was totally blown away by the energy and enthusiasm for the Zope Fat Client stuff. Albert you are not alone! I have exactly the same headache IE5.5 on Win89se. I posted to the zope list to find out if it was local to me. The several replies I received had no problems. Please keep me posted if you get to the bottom of this & vice-versa.. ./Jason ___________________________________________________________ Jason CUNLIFFE = NOMADICS['Interactive Art and Technology']
Gee, What a coincidence! This sounds kind of like the problems I have frequently had in the past whenever I have tried to download Netscape Communicator with Internet Explorer.. Could there be a connection? Chris
