Does anyone know if and/or how to connect to a MS SQL7 database? I am still trying to make my Dept see the light and let me set up a production server using Zope and Linux. The biggest problem is that we and currently moving from Sybase on HPUX to SQL7 on NT (don't say it.. please). I need to reassure them that Zope will be able to get to the SQL7 server now or sometime soon. I am going to use MySQL as the demo but they are just going to say "what about the SQL7 stuff". First of all, doesn't SQL Server use the same protocol as Sybase but different port numbers b/c Microsoft bought SQL Server from Sybase? It think that is correct for MS SQL 6.5 but 7 uses a different method. I would Like to use Linux instead of NT for the Zope server, just because I have no Zope on NT experience or python for that matter. This does not rule out NT. However I am trying to open up the Linux front at my company and this seem to be the perfect chance, and a good hill to fight on. I have notice that most development for Zope is Linux then NT, I may be wrong but that is how I see it. Stephen Pitts wrote:

SQL Server 7 uses a different protocol than SQL Server 6.5 or Sybase 10.X/11.X so the Sybase adapter won't work against SQL Server 7... I have heard rumors of a switch deep in the bowels of SQL Server 7 that allows it to run using the old protocol, but no confirmation. ZODBCA is definitely the way to go, but it presumes that you'll run Zope on NT.
