Re: [Zope] Newbie: Can Zope do this?

Hi,
I need to develop a resource-localization system for an inhouse project.
I want to be able to maintain a reference object hierachy of English texts, and a number of "mirror-hierachies", one for each locale, where translations can be entered.
Something like:
+English Hello world How are you? +German Hello world: Hallo Welt How are you: Wie gehts? +French... +Japanese....
From what I've read so far, it seems I need to develop one or more Products (one for the English reference-texts, and one for the mirroring?), but I am unsure as to the possibilites of having objects mirror one another automatically. I guess I'll also have to use unicode or something, in order to support Japanese etc. Does Zope support that?
Is this possible? How would this best be achieved?
I have a Zope product which might help with this: http://www.zope.org/Members/tseaver/ZI18N The theory behind it is that each ZI18N_Document contains one or more "locale-specific" subdocuments, and selects one of them to render based on: 1. a cookie representing the user's locale choice 2. the browser-configured HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE 3. an acquired "default" locale You might also subscribe/browse the Zope Internationalization Project mailing list, at: http://www.eevolute.com/mailman/listinfo/zip -- ========================================================= Tres Seaver tseaver@palladion.com 713-523-6582 Palladion Software http://www.palladion.com
