Yep, I see similar behavior. Zope doesn't respond until 30s+ after the service has supposedly restarted. I pack frequently, and my database is only 57mb. Aaron Gillette abg@comco-inc.com Comco, Inc. Will do. Thing is this is just a tiny test setup, and installed the standard way. I can see a bunch of .py and .pyc files in sub-directories, so no ideas if some could be removed to force Zope to use byte-code-compiled files to speed things up. Anybody else running Zope 2.5.1 under W2K (256RAM, IDE drive) has to wait about 30s before it's up and running? Thx much for the pointer EvH. _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope@zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

Zope 2.6 will improve this tremendously by - reading its index from Data.fs.index at startup instead of recomputing it - delaying the cooking of ZPTs Florent -- Florent Guillaume, Nuxeo (Paris, France) +33 1 40 33 79 87 http://nuxeo.com mailto:fg@nuxeo.com

FileStorage has always done that. It needs for the index file to be up to date, so you have to shut down cleanly.

Hmmm, right, the thing is that ./stop did not shut down cleanly in Zope 2.5.1 so in most cases you didn't have a Data.fs.index. Florent -- Florent Guillaume, Nuxeo (Paris, France) +33 1 40 33 79 87 http://nuxeo.com mailto:fg@nuxeo.com
