Does anyone have any experience using Inktomi to work as a search engine for ZOPE?
Yes, Inktomi Search works fine alongside with Zope, though you haven't told what you want it for. If you need it to walk in and search non structured docs uploaded to Zope, that's fine. If you just need to search docs created by Zope (and all you'll have are structured docs), maybe you can save money trying Zope's own search capabilities. Currently there are add-ons that are meant to allow you more searching features than those bundled within the current distribution. Also there used to be a product by ZC that allowed Ultraseek to be administrated within Zope. You may need to search 'Ultraseek' at Zope's site. I've used Inktomi in the near past and no matter how fast, realiable or relevant search results it can provide, I'd definitely bend in favor of a Google Search Appliance.
