-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 here's a suggestion. I've sent a number of 'help' requests to the list over the last few weeks. By and large, I get a response sooner or later. A few have gone by unnoticed. In the meantime, a large number of development issues permeate the list. Would it perhaps be to the advantage of the community as a whole to have a zope-development and a zope-help list as seperate entities? Ken and I have been discussing this for a couple days now. When Paul gets back we will bounce our ideas off him. Stayed tuned. Michel

I second this idea. I am new to Zope and OPPs in general. The development stuff is noise to me right now. Phil. ----------------------------------------------------------- Philip Aylesworth mailto:purple@mnsi.net
I think that would a great idea. I'm in the steep part of the learning curve and could really use (and give when possible) help with syntax, structure, concepts. The development are beyond my scope of involvement, at the moment... Greetings Zopeheads, We have sat down and discussed this, and everyone here was very decisive in that they would go along with whatever Ken and I came up with. So we defer to the list. In addition to the dev list David proposes, Ken proposed and announce list. So here's the theory: The zope list becomes the zope help list, it 'inherits' (aquires?) all the current subscribers. We create a zope-dev list and a zope-announce list. We will have to come up with some guidelines about what gets posted where. I would also like to 'broadcast' a weekly FAQ to each list (monthly when our membership growth slows...) Discussion? -Michel
This sounds great! I had also thoght that a Zope install list would be useful to get the install questions out of the help list but would anyone subscribe to it, probably not, so it should stay in the help so that questions might get answered. Phil.

I'd suggest that if you belong to zope-announce or zope-help, that you are automatically subscribed to zope-announce. --- John Eikenberry [jae@taos.kavi.com - http://taos.kavi.com/~jae/] ______________________________________________________________ "A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will deserve neither and lose both." --B. I think it would be nice to give all current list members a brief opportunity to subscribe to lists of choice before the lists go live. This way no one who is interested would miss any messages between the time the read about the new lists and subscribe. After the brief period of time an announcement can be made which opens the list for posting. ie: Announcement: Zope... list available for subscriptions Announcement: Zope... list available for posting Just an idea.
