Dear all, We am new to the group! One had downloaded zope-2.3.1-5mdk.i586.rpm for testing. The server installed and ran but had a problem in getting into the /manage site as one does not have the initial user and password. Would appreciate a lot for anyone that knows what they are! We had tried finding zpassed.py, but it is not there! Many thanks in advanced! -- Regards, Web Master mailto:spider@alphanet.net.au http://www.alphanet.net.au

I'm not familiar with mandrake, but check /usr/share/doc/zope or /usr/doc/zope, or similar for distribution specific information. The username and password may be there. -- paavo. "4000 hungry children leave us per hour from starvation while billions are spent on bombs creating death showers"

Current version of Zope is 2.6.1. Either you misspelled or you are using very old version... Download current Zope tarball from zope.org - it installs fine on Mandrake
Sergey, Yes, a mistype! It should read zope-2.6.1.! Zopy runs fine but just cann manage the site without the account and password! Regards, Arthur Sergey Volobuev said:

In my from-zope-org-tarball installation i have /usr/local/zope260/zpasswd.py to change admin password and /usr/local/zope260/doc/INSTALL.txt where all this things are decribed. And as i remember, zope intaller asks you about login\pass during installation process... Locate the Zope dir and do 'bin/python/zpassd.py --username=admin'

If you cannot find the initial user, you can always make yourself an emergency user : http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZopeBook/2_6Edition/Security.stx read the bit about "Zope Emergency User" :) -- Geir Bækholt
