"manage" screens don't appear on local workstation for Win2000
I just moved my Zope installation to Windows 2000. Now when I try to use any management screens, I get the default index_html pages instead. So I can't change anything or develop content. I can still access the management screens from a separate computer, but I need to work on my own machine, the one that Zope is running on. Zope is running as a service, by the way. Same result with both Zope 2.2.6 and 2.3.0, even with a completely fresh clean installation. I had no problems like this on an NT4 server. I'm out of ideas - anyone have a solution? Tom Passin

What version of IE? There are bugs in 5.01 and early 5.5 releases that caused a problem like this. -- | Casey Duncan | Kaivo, Inc. | cduncan@kaivo.com `------------------>

Looks like you hit it, though I don't understand why at all. I tried NS 4.73, and everything works normally. It never occurred to me because I've been using IE with Zope for a long time and never had a problem. This is IE 5.00.3103. I also forgot that the new system might not have all the updates my old system had. I'll have to see about updating it. Thanks a lot. Any idea what in the world actually causes this to happen? Regards, Tom P
I just installed the IE5.5 service pack from the Microsoft site, and now I can access my management screens normally. That appears to be it for sure. Thanks, all, especially Casey. Cheers, Tom P

BTW, the 2.3.1 QuickStart page gives a heads up about this phenomenon. The best solution is (I think!) to upgrade to the latest IE. Casey Duncan wrote:
