Re: [Zope] Is it just me... Other stuff
4. ???? maybe other stuff?
Said it before, but this is the place to insert again: A Rosetta page, for ASP, PHP, Perl, etc, to Python. This is how you do this in ASP and/or PHP and/or Perl... and this is how it you do that in Python. Not a snip library for the lazy, but an essential Rosetta Stone, to help the new user to get to the "I Get IT" level more stage more quickly. I was able to "get" enough of what Zope does and how to make it work soon enough to continue using it love it. But I still cannot bangout working dtml code the way I can asp pages. I would really love this Rosetta page. I would contribute to it too.

[Snip]
May I suggest the following: [Snip] I think it will give new users a good starting point though!
1. A core introductry reading list
2. A series of problem-sets to be solved using Zope (okay I'm taking this from ACS a bit, but I think its not such a bad idea!)
3. A FAQ distilled from the ZDP, the lists, etc. etc.
4. ???? maybe other stuff?
The other stuff might be something like a weekly newsletter with a step-by-step guide on how to solve some common fundamental problem (like getting Zope to print dates in various formats, etc.).
This would give the newbie something to chew on for a week. They could store it up on a web site for a reference list, and it wouldn't be considered spam.
The nice thing about it is that once you have a cadre of articles, you just (re)circulate the same ones ala Parents magazine.

Just you wait... Can't promise miracles -- not yet at least -- but in a few days transitioning to Zope should be a little easier. --jcc (under your hat)
There is nothing stopping you from doing just that on zopelabs.com. zopelabs is much more than just "a snip library for the lazy". There is nothing stopping you from including other types of code in your recipes. In fact, I would imagine it would be quite helpful to add recipes for going from one language to another. So contribute.. we'd love to have those types of recipes, and I'm sure other people would love to see them. On 20 Jul 2001 13:52:00 -0700, rlanham@speakeasy.net wrote:
