This is odd. Not sure if this is a GUF thing or what. The normal Zope acl_folder allows this. I don't really know enough about Zope to comment. Perhaps someone has some ideas on the list. I did manage to get the SQL thing to work, but there seems to be something different with 2.1.1. I'm not sure what yet but I'll keep digging. Thanks for your help. cheers jim Richard Taylor wrote:

Very strange. I run it on 2.0.0 and 2.0.1 at the moment and they both allow roles to be defined at the botton of the security tab of a GUF folder. However, defining the roles in the folder above should work fine as far as I can see.

There is one thing that is anomolous. In the How-To, Section 7, you talk about setting the permissions to protect the database. It says, 'Create a user defined role called Authoriser in the acl_users folder, do not give it any permissions'. In my case the acl_users folder does not have the option of adding roles. The folder that contains the acl_users folder is where I added the Authoriser role and it filtered down to acl_users. I'm not sure what this means. I'm running the latest Zope 2.1.1.
