Pentium 120, 30gb ide disk 128mb ram and a 768k DSL net link.

This is not exactly a hi-spec system, which would explain the lags in browse time.

I'd be curious to find out if he had a high system load average, or if he felt most of his lag was due to network congestion, or both. -Michel
