I've used WebDrive for a while w/FTP access (to Zope and other things), but haven't been able to get it working w/Zope's WebDAV. There are no error messages generated, but the folder never displays any content whatsoever. Has anyone been successful with this? Any ideas? -- Joel Burton <jburton@scw.org> Director of Information Systems, Support Center of Washington
I've had some success with it, but I've also had enough trouble with it to get really irritated. For instance, getting a blue screen of death on Windows2000 was particularly irritating. :^) What version are you using? Describe the Zope version that you are connecting to. I *have* seen the part about not seeing any content, but I don't remember the situation. Are you running behind Apache? Are you doing the "source port" option for Zope? --Paul Joel Burton wrote:

Server: Zope 2.4. I had the same problem w/2.3.3. Running on Linux 2.4 (Mandrake 8.0); source version of Zope. Client: WebDrive 4.0, running on Win98.

Our real site is behind Apache, but I'm trying to connect to a simple test site, so, no, not behind anything. Startup includes -W 9000, which is the port I'm connecting to. It also doesn't like Python Scripts for some reason. Seems to pick on them for loosing big chunks of their code, but Evan said he'd experienced this with a lot of things using WebDrive :-S cheers, Chris

That seems unusual; I wouldn't suspect that WebDrive is involved at all in the content of the file. Could this be a bug in the WebDAV encoding/decoding of Python Scripts? Does anyone widely use any other WedDAV systems w/PythonScripts? -- Joel Burton <jburton@scw.org> Director of Information Systems, Support Center of Washington

More generally, does anyone have any recommendations for the best Windows WebDAV solution? Is there anything other than WebDrive? seb

DreamWeaver, GoLive, MS WebFolders, etc. They're all bad in different ways sadly :-S cheers, Chris
Most definately agreed. I propose we put together a small group of people to collect and report all the deficiencies in all the clients. The folks here have been ready to fix it for a while, but I've been slowing in putting together all the problems. :^( This means someone besides me needs to be the ringleader on this little project. I've been using sitecopy (there's a Windows command-line port) with some success. BTW, Joel, I regret to say that my compatriot at the ZPUG mtg stole one of the green restroom keys. If you'll send me your mailing address, I'll get it sent to you. Now all the world knows, invite us to a chat and we'll steal your property. :^) --Paul Chris Withers wrote:

The author of WebDrive has a Zope-friendly version in beta (after a support request, he sent me an advanced copy.) I haven't tested in enough to say much, but it does fix the 'nothing-in-the-folder' problem of the current version. Confidential to PE: People steal our bathroom keys all the time; just not usually executives from software corporations. ;-). Well, Evan assured me there was no problem here, so I'm guessing WebDrive is the problem. Someone mentioned a enw beta of WebDrive floating about, does anyone know where I can get this? cheers, Chris
