How do I set the option for this mailing list to make the ReplyTo 'Zope' rather than the sender? I can't find it on the options page for my subscription. Every other mailing list has this set by default, so it's quite tricky trying to remember to change the addressee before hitting send.
Maybe the following indicates the reply-to policy of this list? http://www.unicom.com/pw/reply-to-harmful.html
Indeed. You'll also notice that HTML posting is against list policy, so please stop doing so... Crosbie Fitch wrote:

I don't buy those arguments at all. Most people simply click "Reply", or, more commonly, press the shortcut keystroke, for all their email replies. Messages on a list are no different. I've been on both kinds of lists, and those that don't add the Reply-To always suffer from questions being posted with no corresponding answers. The whole purpose of most support lists is to spread the knowledge; I may not have that problem today, but by reading about it and its solution, I'll be better prepared if I come across it tomorrow. ___/ / __/ / ____/ Ed Leafe http://leafe.com/ http://opentech.leafe.com

Yeah, the arguments against enabling "reply to list" are highly bogus. One could just as easily argue that mail clients shouldn't have a "reply to all" function... how many times does *that* get abused? I've been using lists for more than 10 years now and reply-to-list *is* the default behavior I expect. Aside from this list and c.l.python, every one of the lists I subscribe to does it this way. I can't say how many times I've provided thoughtful answers to questions only to realize that they didn't post to the list. I can't be the only one who's done that numerous times. This list would be a more complete, more informative, easier-to-use resource to use if it adopted the default behavior and put the list address in the reply-to field. My $.02 Dylan

As it is now, I can use "reply to all" and get what is good (list and discussion participants). I do not know how my Email reader will act when there is a "Reply-To" header. Dieter
I'm just happy that [Zope] is in the Subject line... I'd love to convince the mysql group to use [mysql]... but of course, i'd never have time to go through both lists anyway. :) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dieter Maurer" <dieter@handshake.de> To: "Ian Firmin" <ianf@ijfirmin.co.uk> Cc: <zope@zope.org> Sent: Thursday, January 16, 2003 1:04 PM Subject: RE: [Zope] ReplyTo 'Zope' rather than the sender?

I would definitely prefer "reply to zope". I've participated in several discussions lately, and I have made already the mistake of replying directly to the sender instead of the list several times. Also, I think it's silly that I get 2 messages every time people reply to my mails, because people "reply to all" instead of replying only to the list.
