RE: [Zope] comparing Zope with Vignette, IPS and others
-----Original Message----- From: Martijn Pieters [mailto:mj@antraciet.nl] Pity its closed source and probably very expensive (they do not quote any prices..). Also, their minimal hardware requirements are pretty tough, and it only runs on Solaris and NT.. I can go on with quite a list where Zope has the better. Especially the URLs. No search engine is ever going to index their site.
Just looking at those URLS makes me nauseous! Seriously, Zope's acquisition permits movement away from these ridiculous thousand-meter query strings. There is no solid reason for a query string to be tracking anything other than search data and possibly user-session info if it can't be stored in a session cookie. Which means that someone's home page URI should never be more complicated than /index.html, and Zope is a good reminder that even that is unnecessary.
