I know there is a helper app for w2k. Did you run it? maybe uninstal / reinstall it. I've used context with it without any problems. I am getting this error:

Fatal Error: Editor did not launch properly. External Editor lost connection to Editor process.

I am running Zope 2.6 on Windows 2000 pro with emacs 21.2.
