Should the ZPT list be retired?
The ZPT list was created when Page Templates were new and shiny, and there was a decent volume of discussion about their design and usage. These days, there are only sporadic non-spam postings, and all of those could probably live comfortably on either zope-general or zope-dev. Should this list be retired, or is there a good reason to keep it alive? Cheers, Evan @ 4-am

I'm all for retiring it. The level and nature of discussion these days is appropriate for the general lists (zope, zope3-dev). -Fred -- Fred L. Drake, Jr. <fdrake at gmail.com> Zope Corporation

Personally I don't like the large number of individual lists, and would prefer more general lists. I don't know how many times I've picked up clues about things I would never have thought of using when I've seen references on technical discussion lists. A second disadvantage is that I already get a metric tonne of Mailman subscription confirmations every month. Most of the time, I'm with you on this. When the ZPT list was created, page templates weren't part of Zope itself, but were a separate component, and since checkin emails were sent to the list, it served a distinct purpose. It's completed its task; may it rest in peace.

So what's one more? I'm afraid you're in the same boat as everyone else on this one. Welcome to open source. ;-) -Fred -- Fred L. Drake, Jr. <fdrake at gmail.com> Zope Corporation
