We plan to release a beta 5 this week with fixes to the must-fix bugs that have been reported to date (including the various hanging and stuttering problems that have been reported). Unless new showstopping bugs are reported, then 2.0 final will probably come out about a week (give or take a few days) later.
That's cool ! How about the Portal Toolkit ?

Well, in a sense the core of the PTK is already in Zope2 (ZCatalog and ZClasses). The main missing link is the thing that we have been calling "Membership". An early shot at membership is in use on the new Zope.org beta site, but actually defining just what membership is (and more importantly, what it should be) has turned out to be _much_ more involved that it would seem at first glance. I can't give you a date or anything on Membership, other than to say that we haven't forgotten it (though the form it will take is still in flux). One thing I would like to start doing is maintaining a general "Zope Roadmap" on zope.org that tries to give a high-level summary of what is planned regarding Zope development for the next quarter or so. That way folks wouldn't have to immerse themselves in the list to determine what will be happening in the near-term. This will happen in the next few weeks, after 2.0 comes out.
