I have been working on a site that will allow people to contribute files into various categories. I was wondering if there would be any interest in a site for DTML and external methods to be categorized, searched and downloaded? Something along the lines of the PHP code exchange (http://px.sklar.com) Anyways, a couple questions: 1) Does anyone else think this is a good idea? 2) Does anyone know of other examples of this kind of site that we can draw on for inspiration? I think a Zope Code exchange would be a great place for new users to find common solutions to problems, also for seasoned users to find well-written methods so they don't have to re-invent the wheel. ------- Jordan B. This sounds like a good idea and could work in conjunction with the current Zope ZDP project. Recently Paul Everitt <Paul@digicool.com> wrote: Sent: Wednesday, April 07, 1999 4:41 PM Subject: [Zope] FYI: Plans for Linux Expo
...We are positioning Zope as an application server focusing on community portals. The under-discussion brand of the company is "unleashing potential", which is based on Open Source, community portal, safely delegating control, and through-the-web everything....
I would expect that the _very first_ community portal site would be for ZOPE itself. This portal could include your proposed code exchange. I'd love to hear more about the Zope Community Portals. "ZCP" or "ZComPort" or "ZoCoPo" ??? ;-) -Bob OConnor bob@rocnet.com "May the Source be with you!"

Sure, the ZDP welcomes this anarchofficially as of now. :) What would be especially relevant to the ZDP are code snippets. Perhaps there should be some way to integrate CoolFAQ answers to ContriZope snippets. More discussion on this belongs on the ZDP list, I suppose. Regards, Martijn
