the UserDB sample application
From: Paul Everitt <Paul@digicool.com> Date: Mon, 22 Feb 1999 08:55:39 -0500 ... Fortunately it is possible to use cookies to get around that. Take a look at the UserDB sample application for more details. (Note: we don't support the UserDB sample application, it is just an example.) > * Check the username/password pair against the unix > /etc/passwd database, and > on success log the user into Zope as that username. The UserDB sample stores and retrieves user information from a relational database. Thus, it provides an example of how to extend Zope to get user information from an external source. Where does one get hold of "UserDB"? I looked under "Contributed Software", but couldn't see anything obvious. Which brings me to a suggestion - a "Search" tab at the Zope site to search for documents/modules available at www.zope.org - reasonable? (Note: the eGroups search facility has never worked for me, it is either unavailable, or, as now, displays: Sorry, an error occured while searching. ((for "UserDB" of course :-)))
UserDb's not linked in (none of the 'Prerelease' stuff is - hint, hint :) http://www.zope.org/Download/Prereleases/UserDB/UserDb-1.2.0-nonbin.tar.gz there's also the Confera pre-release there - are there others I'm unaware of? as far as searching the mailing list, a search interface in the pipermail archives would be the best bet... probably. (thank god I'm in a different country, PaulE can't hit me for suggesting extra work :) Anthony
