Hmmmm... as I'm not using Windows, I'm not really sure what you're seeing. At this point we must unfortunately make some implicit assumptions about our user base. I lead software product development for our company, and I can tell you that it is a good thing to try to think about these things from the point of view of those you would like to 'initiate' into the ranks of Zopista's, rather than the point of view of the well steeped. I.e., do everything you can to make if intuitively easy to go through the steps. Toward that goal, let people know what version of winzip is required in the installation instructions. Try to anticipate what Windoze users expect in a zip file. The more obvious it is to do the 'simple' things needed to get to using zope productively, the greater the success of the product in the market you are pursuing. Isn't that the point of KDE and GNOME and Caldera's Installation program, and many other efforts? We don't need to insult anyone's intelligence, and I, for one, would like to be using the product for what it does, not debugging the installation of simple parts of it.

On the flip side, however, I am very please there IS an ODBC driver!!

The fact that I am even having this discussion proves a couple of things: - I am very enthusiastic about Zope and it's prospects - I want nothing but Zope domination in the Web world - I recognize that packaging software is not easy - I respect the hell out of what DC has done with Zope
