Whats the difference ( Newbie question )
Hi there <dtml-var "_.str(startdatum[0:4])"> will give me an answer <dtml-var "_.str(startdatum[5:2])"> will give me nothing What function do i use to extract a part of a string. Been looking around a python.org finding everything except the function I want. Cheers Fred

That's ok, 5:2 will go backwards from the fifth character to the second, thus giving you nothing. If you want two characters, write 5:7
Hi Fredrik, try the python-interpreter interactively to get an imagination of python (simply start the binary) if "startdatum" is really a string, part of the string is startdatum[:4] (chars 0..3) startdatum[5:2] however will give you nothing. startdatum[5:-2] will give you between the 5th and -2 from the end...
