Re: Zope digest, Vol 1 #1209 - 45 msgs
Unfortunately this is not possible, because we mustn't use JavaScript nor Java for the usual reasons. Pure HTML only.
Are you saying that you shouldn't use Java / JavaScript with Zope at all? Forgive my ignorance; but why? The management screens might use a little JavaScript but I don't *think* this would cause any conflicts/probs. Cheers, Lee
I never received the Digest for some strange reason, so I might be out of reference but... Javascript must NEVER BE NECESSARY!! What must never happen is that you are disabled for working properly only because a Javascript doesn't happen to work. javascripts should be used frequently though for "whistles and bells". You know, little cool helpers that are useful if you decide to take advantage of them. This is probably what they mean by "for the usual reasons". ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lee" <lee.reilly@ntlworld.com> To: <zope@zope.org> Sent: Friday, February 23, 2001 5:05 PM Subject: [Zope] Re: Zope digest, Vol 1 #1209 - 45 msgs

When I first looked at Zope, this was one of the main draws.

I've been diappointed that "Help" sometimes falls into this category. (I don't have a reference at hand for this, but I encountered it within the past couple of months.) I'd love to see the "optional" status exteded to cookies. It's a pain to be unable to set management textarea sizes or do cut and paste just because I don't use cookies. It's not like the server doesn't know who I am. Can't it just store my info instead of relying on setting it in every browser I use? I am thrilled that Zope has as little reliance on JavaScript and cookies as it does. --kyler
