I work on debian, and i am pretty new with zope (version (2.6.1) . I use the -deb vesion. It looks very fine, but I have problems with the init-script. When I do /etc/init.d/zope start, the server starts, but he keeps hanging on the points. At the server itself it is no problem, because you can let the terminal session open, but the problem is that this occurs at the booting process (init.d before launching the network interfaces), which causes the server hangs. So is there a solution for those processes ? /etc/init.d/zope restart Starting Zope... thx a lot Johan

Don't launch Zope before networking is up. That should do the trick. HTH, Dylan
Ok , I understand, but anyway, it will cause all the other processes not being launched, because zope makes the server hanging. Is every zope server on debian experiances this problem ? Hi. most distro-based-Zope-installations are a mess. If you don't want to run into trouble etc. you should use the binary-distro of Zope (with python already included) or the source-distro (use your own python) and install it for testing purposes in your home-dir. It's very easy to do... 5-minutes-job. Then you can play, test, evaluate, collect experience, ... If you want to set up a production-server, you shouldn't rely on the debian-packages for Zope anyway... Cheers, Maik

i cannot agree. i know many zope production servers running on debian, and the admins are usually very glad. -- martin; (greetings from the heart of the sun.) \____ echo mailto: !#^."<*>"|tr "<*> mailto:" net@madduck keyserver problems? http://keyserver.kjsl.com/~jharris/keyserver.html get my key here: http://madduck.net/me/gpg/publickey echo '[dO%O+38%O+PO/d0<0]Fi22os0CC4BA64E418CE7l0xAP'|dc
This isn't a Zope issue... you'll have this problem pretty much any time you attempt to launch a network-dependent server prior to launching networking. Just give Zope a higher number and you'll be all set. Dylan At 12:55 PM 3/15/2003, johan wrote:

does it hang forever? or will it eventually complete? -- martin; (greetings from the heart of the sun.) \____ echo mailto: !#^."<*>"|tr "<*> mailto:" net@madduck keyserver problems? http://keyserver.kjsl.com/~jharris/keyserver.html get my key here: http://madduck.net/me/gpg/publickey english was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects creativity of the human race (which, of course isn't a race at all). that is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out they are invisible.
