You want to warn other people? Then your information is far too scarse. What did you do and what happened (precisely)? It's a pity that you lost your work. But with this information, we can neither help you nor try to avoid a similar fate... Dieter
Was this Zope's "fault" or was it because you didn't know how to use the Versions OR Was It Because Versions Are Tricky To Use?? I fear them a little bit too because I'm afraid of making misstakes, because they imply a "new" way of working with your server as opposed to just testing away in realtime. peter

I fear them a little bit too because I'm afraid of making misstakes, because they imply a "new" way of working with your server as opposed to just testing away in realtime. I use versions regularly and did not meat problems up to now.
The only nasty thing: When you create an object in a Folder (or delete one), then the Folder gets locked. Colleagues cannot add objects (or delete one). That behaviour is understandable from how versions are implemented but not so nice for parallel development. Otherwise, I did not have to change the way how to work with the server. Dieter
Ok... Let's try to explain what happened (english is not my mother tong :-)). I was working in a version and when I saved it, Zope was unable to find the objects I created inside a new zope folder. When, I click on this folder to get his management interface, I obtained a message which sounded like: wrong key. The error message refered a transaction problem in the Data.fs... Then, I undid all the transactions I has done after the safe of my version, including the safe of my version. I recovered my work but when I saved it again, I lost it again... I repeat that again and exported my new folder before deleting it. I quit my version and import my work. I finally managed to recover it. Maybe I should have kept and shown you the error message I got... Sorry... Next time, I will not panic like that, I promise... Regards.
