RE: [Zope] Suggestion for improving http://www.zope.org/
Now that there are starting to be dozens of Zope products, the flat representation at http://www.zope.org/Products doesn't work so well. Older (but still useful) products aren't listed (e.g. TinyTable) -- the current oldest is mid-September. Additionally, all you have to go by is the name of the product, which sometimes isn't descriptive (Webstar).
Obviously, if you know what you're looking for, you can just search the text of the update posting. Some of us, however, don't know what we're looking for :->.
It would be nice to be able to view by: submission date and some sort of functional keyword(s) (DAs, logging, ad and page tracking, import/export, user handling, etc.). It would also be nice if on the listing pages, there were a capsule description, so people could quickly eliminate products that don't apply to their situation.
Real Soon Now ZTopics should make their debut on zope.org. ZTopics are sort of like Folders that contain canned search queries that define their contents. They will allow us to build arbitrary heirarchical organizations of content a la a Yahoo-style directory. So instead of a flat list of products you will be able to go through: /Products/Database_Adapters/Oracle/ or /Products/Ad_Managers/ or even /Products/Ad_Managers/That_are_new_in_the_last_30_days/ I can't give an exact date for when this will happen, but I just wanted to chime in to let folks know what is on our radar for addressing things like this.
