FYI: News from the front, part 2
Day One definately exceeded expectations. LinuxExpo has about the number of booths that I expected, but the quality of booths is pretty high. However, there are probably twice the number of attendees that I expected. The good news is that our booth is definately in the top half of "getting mobbed" booths. I nearly talked my voice out in the morning giving presentations at a feverish pace, then Chris nearly lost his in the afternoon. The plan was to have enough people at the show to have half in the booth and half walking around. Instead, the we've needed everybody around the booth. In case I didn't say it yesterday, the portal toolkit demo is awesome! We started with a nice surprise: copies of the new Linux Magazin with Zope on the cover! It is a really well produced magazine. We definately feel more credible being associated with something so well done. Jon Corbet from LWN came by for a demo and a one-on-one talk. He also had a nice surprise: a "Product Review", written by him, about Zope 1.10.2 in a new Linux magazine. Tom Jenkins and crew dropped by in the afternoon and spent about an hour with us, I believe. Saw the demo, then did some behind the scenese peeking at the code with Brian Lloyd. The highlight was at the very end, a couple of quite antagonistic folks came over and started taunting Zope. One of the guys was a Domino zealot. By then end, Jim was writing his application on the spot. They left with a grudging kudo. The Object Domain folks are here, need to get out of the booth and make some rounds. Day One definately exceeded expectations.... ***Fabulous!***
Is anyone at the Expo taking digital pictures and posting them on the Net? Perhaps this is politically incorrect but: *I would love to see pictures of the Zope Booth Babes! ;-) When will the zope.org TWO go live? I've seen the new Zope pool ball logo... Will this become the prime logo to replace the two color "Z" logo? Are there other logos and graphics?

Is there a picture of the magazine cover on the net? -Bob OConnor bob@rocnet.com "May the source be with you." (Later today the whole family gets to see THE movie.)

Yup: http://www.linux-magazin.de/ It looks like their new site is online. I understood from Thomas Riedl (the author of the article) that the site is now running on Zope. That is to say: he said they were converting, and I assume the new look means they are done. -- Martijn Pieters, Web Developer | Antraciet http://www.antraciet.nl | Tel: +31-35-6254545 Fax: +31-35-6254555 | mailto:mj@antraciet.nl http://www.antraciet.nl/~mj | PGP: http://wwwkeys.nl.pgp.net:11371/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0xA8A32149 ------------------------------------------

Yes, http://www.linux-magazin.de/ runs Zope =) No other Web Application platform has URLs with 'index_html' in them. jep, I did the last tests today morning at 5 am and just let it happen :-) still loking for a place for the Zope-Logo on our site.. ###################################################### If I get a 468 x 60 Pixels Zope-banner I will place it in the news as long that place is free there.. ###################################################### The funniest part in the design is that the colors of the site are properties of the main folder and get other values in subfolders. I will do a frame-based look and feel by aquisition next week which people can choose if they want. The left navigation bar unfortunately slows down the download of long articles.

cool, is'nt it :-) B.T.W. We seem to be a first class candidate for the Zope Portal toolkit :-) -- Tom Linux Magazin http://www.linux-magazin.de/

We've taken some, but honestly, we're so swamped with talking to people that the photos are a definate 5th seat :-) We will push some as soon as we get a chance!
When will the zope.org TWO go live?
No promises, but this is one of my top priorities when we get back to work on Monday... we'll be redoing it in-house, and as soon as Zope2 is stable enough, it'll go live for everyone. This will be really really cool, trust me. :-)
I've seen the new Zope pool ball logo... Will this become the prime logo to replace the two color "Z" logo?
Yes, I believe this is the deal, again, it'll happen with the new site, most likely.
Are there other logos and graphics?
We have a bunch of new logos/graphics that will be available. More news when we get back! Chris, who has no voice left.
