Hi, Zope management screens cannot be used with Konqueror (http://www.kde.org). Konqueror always renders the page itself instead of it's management screen. Is it a Konqueror fault? I'd like to file a problem report, because Netscape is a royal pain when compared to Konqueror. -- Milos Prudek

maybe it has something to do with cookies? -- http://www.kedai.com.my/kk http://www.kedai.com.my/eZine How can I laugh tomorrow, if I can't even smile today

The Zope management interface doesn't (normally) use cookies for authentication. I don't use Konqueror myself, but I recall that Konqueror doesn't use authentication in frames; this will cause the Zope management interface to show the rendered page, not the management page. I use the latest stable KDE, which is 2.0.1. Maybe Kedai uses unstable KDE 2.1 snapshot? -- Milos Prudek

It's not a 'fault', per se. This is due to how Konqueror handles passwords. I have been wanting to use Konq for my Zope work for some time, but have been held back by this 'issue'. Konq is actually working by the rules, so far as the RFC is concerned. It asks you for a username/password when it gets an auth error response from the server. Prior to Konq from KDE 2.1beta, it wouldn't remember this password, and so would prompt you for EVERY page. However, Konqueror will not continue to present this login information to the server unless prompted, and so in the management screen, Zope fills the right pane with a request from an anonymous user, and thus 'views that page', not the management screen. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a usable browser for Linux that is better than Netscape. But Konq is showing the most promise. Saying that, I have not tried Opera in some time... perhaps they've addresses some of THEIR issuse... it could be worth a try... http://www.opera.com

I have recently tried Opera on Windows and I really liked it. It had some problems with forms though, so I had to drop it for Zope development. Regards Max M
