Newbie question about Zope functions
We're trying to pick the right open-source platform to build an online community site. Needs are a bulletin board, a blogging capability, and a good permissioning system (users will be members of groups and some pages will be accessible to everyone, but some limited to members of one group or another). Would Zope be a good fit for this? Any examples of Zope sites built with this functionality appreciated. Thanks for any illumination. Beverly (I didn't see a bboard on the zope.org site itself, so maybe Zope's strong points are in content management, rather than these community functions?)

Any site using the CMF or CMF-based CMS (Plone, CPS...). zope.org is an exemple...
Thanks for any illumination.

CPS has a nice, threaded bulletin board. AFAIK, Plone has one too. Have a look at CPS, and you will find out by yourself that Zope is quite a good base for community/collaborative portals. My 2 cents, Bruno -- Bruno Desthuilliers - Analyste-programmeur bruno@modulix.org www.modulix.com

Yes .

The plone's One is CMFBoard. I'm using it. It's nice. Blogging capability is IMHO the lack of Plone (and CPS?). I personally dont need it, but I found no product to do it. My solution for blogging is to make I Photo (or an Image) commentable (people can add comments) . CoreBlog is one Zope blogging add-on with CMF compatibility. Tres. -- =============================================================== Tres Seaver tseaver@zope.com Zope Corporation "Zope Dealers" http://www.zope.com

I just tried it. I did not see the way to integrate it to plone ... :-( -- ASPO Infogérance http://aspo.rktmb.org/activites/infogerance Unofficial FAQ fcolc http://faq.fcolc.eu.org/ LUG sur Orléans et alentours. Tél : 02 38 76 43 65 (France)

My only issue with it too. Quills looks like it will be a good blog well integrated with Plone - but its not yet finished, currently lacks a few important capabilities (notably trackback) and I cannot install it due to problems with RPCAuth (see separate message). Regards David
