is enough to hold its index, normally 1/10th of its disk space. Hence a 2G Data.fs would require 200Mb. That's clear enough. You then say that "It needs at least the same again when packing." Are you saying that packing, in this example, would require 400MB RAM?
In this example, yes. your mileage *will* vary.
