I've had the exact same problem with DCOracle. There, we just compiled the module with a non-zope full python distribution and used the object files generated within Zope. It works, but I suspect it causes problems. A real solution, probably, is to move to a source (rather than binary) Zope distribution. We haven't gotten around to it yet. Hope this helps, Shai.
