Integrating Zope with the file system
Hi all, I want to integrate my Zope/Plone portal with files on the Lan. Does a product exist that: 1) Allows viewing/editing of (e.g.) Windows files w/out requiring that they be made Zope objects? 2) Does not have security holes since the files would be available via the Internet. 3) Provides text search capability, again, w/out requiring that they become Zope objects? Thanks, Stan __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! http://sbc.yahoo.com
Have you checked out NuxDocument? I haven't used it myself, but it seems to offer the functionality you're describing. http://www.zope.org/Members/sf/NuxDocument/index_html http://www.nuxeo.org/nuxdocument -- David On Monday, June 30, 2003, at 02:29 PM, Stan Baptista wrote:

Hi all, I'm considering using Zope/Plone for a site that currently supports an avg. of 300,000 hits/month and can go upward of 900,000 hits during peak months. Does anyone know if: 1) that presents any problems 2) are there stress stats anywhere that I can take a look at? Thanks, Stan __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! no problem at all. make sure to use a good cache (squid) and make extra-sure that every resource sets caching headers. use the caching_policy_manager tool built into CMF for that. as i have found trying to make a plone site cacheable is that plone does everything in its power to be completely uncacheable, and it does that in very insidious ways like setting caching headers inside templates, etc (!). you will have to experiment to ensure that you root out all of that. jens On Friday, Jul 18, 2003, at 15:08 US/Eastern, Stan Baptista wrote:

http://zopeedge.com/benchmarks is the most recent so far as I know. It's only a rough go at the topic, and I'll get some more interesting tests up in time. It should also have links to the other well-known Zope benchmark runs. --jcc

You want to allow writing in your file system via the internet. This is at least a bit troublesome.
3) Provides text search capability, again, w/out requiring that they become Zope objects?
Have a look at "LocalFS". It supports 1) and 3). I do not know about security holes but that does not imply there are none! Dieter
