Not exactly the same... We do a lot of work with Soap, so its slightly different. Needless to say it causes a lot of confusion. The commonly agreed-on version is pronouncing Zope exactly like "soap".
Cheers

According to Paul Everitt it should be pronounced like cleaning soap but with a little frenchness on the Z of course. At Zope Corporation they apparently pronounce it a bit different: "j i m f u l t o n" Cheers, Peter ----- Original Message ----- From: "P Cowley" <pythoniac@yahoo.com> To: <zope@zope.org> Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2001 12:53 AM Subject: [Zope] How to pronounce ZOPE

How do you pronounce ZOPE.
From the ZDP Zope FAQ:
* Like soap, but with a 'z' * Like 'Hope' with Z * Rhymes with 'Dope', which is appropriate, since when you first use Zope you will wonder what kind the developers of zope were smoking. /Danni

So true .. so true :-)))) Regards, -- Gitte Wange Jensen Sys Admin, Developer and a lot more MMmanager.org Aps, Denmark Phone: +45 29 72 79 72 Email: gitte@mmmanager.org Web: www.mmmanager.org Quote of the day: (On the statement print "42 monkeys"+"1 snake") BTW, both perl and Python get this wrong. Perl gives 43 and Python gives "42 monkeys1 snake", when the answer is clearly "41 monkeys and 1 fat snake". - Jim Fulton, 10 Aug 1999
I always tell my web developer friends that they should try Zope because it's 'like crack for web developers' *laugh* mostly because, as we know, - what you can do with it and how easily you can do it..seems to promote a strange feeling of euphoria in people who are trying it.. (especially that first time! *laugh*) In the US (dating myself here) many years ago they had a series of anti-drug TV commercials in which various points were made to prevent kids from trying the 'evil weed' or whatever.. (this was the series with the fried eggs.. now made famous with the zillions of parodies on SNL, etc..) and the final line was often.. "Why do you think they call it "Dope"?" I have been known to end my pro-Zope pitches to friends with "why do you think they call it Zope?" *laugh* Chris

Oooooouch! I was wondering the same thing, but couldn't bring myself to say it publicly. Tommy Innovation: The Best Way To Predict The Future ... Is To Create It.

Mushrooms.... gotta be those magic mushrooms... Consider Zope at how well adapted and far-reaching in functionality, yet still mysterious, strange and basically schizophrenic in behaviour at times. they must have all be psycodelia freakz.
