Re: [Zope] Linux distributions for Zope Servers
So Suse is preferred choise for atleast few Zopistas. But does Suse have a good updating system similar to Redhat Network? I'm just thinking about maintenance and management of multiple servers and also cases where potential customers manage their servers on their own - possibly with very limited Linux knowledge and experience. Is there anything else comparable to RH Network or Mac Os X support and ease of maintenance? .. and that is also reliable and has a future ... -- -huima
I use Debian myself these days, primarily because of apt(8), but used to use SuSE before and can say that its a fine distro. I dont know much about RedHat network, but there is an online update facility built into SuSE (YOU). And I'd say that in light of Novells purchase of SuSE, (eg.: http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,4149,1372147,00.asp) SuSE definitely has a future. So if dont want to / can't use Debian, SuSE is worth a try IMHO. Heimo Laukkanen wrote:

Hello
Is there anything else comparable to RH Network or Mac Os X support and ease of maintenance?
At least since 8.2 (I never used 8.1), there is an automated update for SuSE. But there's also an good software http://fou4s.gaugusch.at/download.shtml which does the same.
.. and that is also reliable and has a future ...
Novell wants to buy SuSE, read http://www.linux.org/news/2003/11/06/0004.html Regards Dieter
