zwiki.org name lookup problem ?
While over on the squeak list I carp about their wiki site's reliability, my own zwiki.org is up and down like a.. yoyo.. 2001-04-09 08:03:51 : back_up 2001-04-09 01:06:52 : down 2001-04-05 21:29:15 : back_up 2001-04-05 20:11:05 : down 2001-04-05 07:44:19 : back_up 2001-04-05 01:53:28 : down 2001-04-04 02:10:16 : back_up 2001-04-03 23:35:57 : down 2001-04-03 10:36:50 : back_up 2001-04-03 09:16:16 : down 2001-03-27 17:05:59 : back_up 2001-03-27 15:30:09 : down 2001-03-25 05:56:23 : back_up 2001-03-25 05:03:25 : down 2001-03-20 22:11:08 : back_up 2001-03-20 20:57:49 : down 2001-03-20 07:43:44 : back_up 2001-03-20 05:56:48 : down This seems to be an intermittent dns problem, but I don't know how to pinpoint it further. Has anyone out there run into problems reaching zwiki.org ? Can anyone help clarify the cause ? Many thanks - Simon

tav mentioned something yesterday, though I didn't notice anything. I'm running a DNS trace on zwiki.org now. -- Daniel Biddle <deltab@espnow.com>

Off-topic perhaps, but what exactly does this involve ?

Hehe. I've found two handy tools: dnstrace traces each way a domain name could be looked up, querying each name server individually: http://cr.yp.to/djbdns/tools.html#dnstrace http://mu2.espnow.com/~deltab/zwiki.html DNS Bajaj does a less complete search, but draws a nice diagram of what it finds out: http://www.foobar.tm/dns/ http://www.foobar.tm/dns/cache/zwiki.org.gif -- Daniel Biddle <deltab@espnow.com>

I've arranged for ns{1,2}.esp-worldwide.com to get a copy of the zwiki.org records on ns01.codeit.com by AXFR. However I can't give out valid glue for ns01.codeit.com, due to anti-poisoning rules. Could this be a problem? If so, we'll need to give the servers names within zwiki.org. -- Daniel Biddle <deltab@espnow.com>
