I've used Fink 0.4.1 to install MySQL 3.23.49-2 & libraries on my OS X 10.1.4 server. I've also installed MySQLDA-2.0.8, Python 2.1.2, and Zope 2.5.1. I'm not sure if this is the problem, but you're installing the wrong phyton version, you have to install version 2.1.3. It's known that zope can fail if you install other version than the official one.
