I don't think this is normal behavior. This may be related to the "ZClass ID bug". You may want to take a look at this doc: <http://www.zope.org/Members/AlexR/ZClassIDBug>.

You're right. Adding a setName call in the ZClass _add method solves the problem for all new instances. Many thanks David
