does zope do passive ftp? - was emacs and ange-ftp
thanks for all the previous help - for the record... putting /kbailey@example.com[ctrl q then space]8021:/path/to/file (i.e. /kbailey@example.com 8021:/path/to/file) meant that the host name was being resolved correctly in gnu-emacs21 (console version) and... xemacs works better in that it resolves the host name correctly when /kbailey@example.com#8021:/path/to/file however - i am still unable to edit files over FTP using emacs... :o( i think i've found that the issue is that i am behind a firewall and though passive FTP is relatively easy, active FTP is more difficult. i *have* set up a trigger which means i can access my company's winnt ftp server using active ftp - but even though i have set up a similar trigger (for port 8021) on the firewall the response from the zope ftp server does not get back in. any ideas on how to get zope's ftp server to respond to passive ftp requests gratefully received, kev bailey hi there, has anyone managed to get emacs to directly edit test files on a zope server. i try connecting to www.server.com#8021:/path/to/file_html but it says server unknown. even dired does not work, thanks, kev bailey _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope@zope.org http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

Hello, How do I set XEmacs to use passive mode FTP (PASV) to retreive packages? I'm behind a firewall. :-(
It looks like it uses EFS, so you should be able to set "Efs Use Passive Mode" on in the EFS Parameters customize section (Options->Advanced (Customize)->Emacs->File->Efs). Just a guess, I haven't needed to do any of that.... reid kevin bailey wrote:

I hope this is not considered off-topic: We are in the process of developing some long term EU activities that may include significant Zope based Open Source development efforts, and which could include partners or contractors from Europe or other countries. And, as is well known, the EU likes to encourage SME (Small and Medium sized Enterprise) participation. 1) Is there already some well maintained directory of organizations that want to engage in Zope projects? 2) Or is there a directory of ongoing Zope based non-confidential projects that might embrace this sort of collaboration? 3) I'd be very happy of good recommendations and contacts (these off-list, please!) best, Kari-Hans Kommonen -- ---------------------------------------------- Kari-Hans Kommonen, ARKI research group Media Lab, University of Art and Design Helsinki UIAH Hämeentie 135 C, 00560 HELSINKI, Finland email: khk@uiah.fi web: http://arki.uiah.fi tel: +358 9 7563 0563 fax: +358 9 7563 0555
