The gracious folks over at linux.com have agreed to lend us some space on their front page in the form of a rotated banner ad (the one that runs on the right-hand side of the page, halfway down). I sort of figured that the graphics would be stolen from the Zope.org masthead graphic, but can anyone come up with a "tag line" for this ad? (E.g.: "Zope: saving the world from mediocrity" or somesuch?). Any ideas or contributions in the form of graphics are appreciated...

Just struck me: Negative slogans are perhaps not so good, so why don't we just turn it around: "Zope - Because people read open books" or perhaps "Zope - Because You read an open book" or something in that direction. "Zope - Makes the Web" "Zope - Because open books are read" "Zope - Because open books are read better" "Zope - Because open books are read more" Blablabla... -- Best regards / Mvh., Steen Suder sysadm kollegie6400.dk OpenSource --- Sign of the time

Maybe that's a dangerous idea. This slogan was already used by the gernam linux-website www.linux.de. And then came microsoft and took legal measures against it. They had to remove the slogan from the website. markus

I really really like this one. I can already see the super hero comic book style of the banner, with a superman with a big Z. You should use the 'Unleash the potential' catchphrase that DC uses as well. I have risen to the challenge: http://www.zope.org/Members/webmaven/zope-banner-1.gif The file size is 13k, it's a seven frame animation. Please note that this is only a first draft, and I am still trying to improve the verbiage, layout, and timing of the animation. DC guys, this would be easier if I had source files for the logo and the fonts that you are using for your logo. Cheers, Michael Bernstein.

Great work Michael. I'd make the LAST frame stay on longer, so slow readers can absorb it. Try reading it aloud. Also you might consider looping 3 or 4 times then stopping with the last frame. -Bob OConnor bob@rocnet.com

Okay, I've modified the banner a bit: - Added 5 seconds to the final frame - fiddled with the timing of other frames a bit. - reduced the number of colors to 32 and increased the dithering. - constrained the looping to 4 loops. stops on final frame. - I mistyped the previous size as 13k; it was 18k, now it's 15k. - I'm not happy with the edge and size of the (Z) logo at the end, but I can't do anything better without the source file of the logo.(I'd like to make the logo bigger) check out the new version: http://www.zope.org/Members/webmaven/zope-banner-2.gif Let me know what you think, Michael Bernstein.

Ok, I just got a larger version of the Zope logo. The new banner is at: http://www.zope.org/Members/webmaven/zope-banner-3.gif Changes: - the file size is up to 18.5k again. - the logo is now larger, and uses more colors. Let me know what you think! Michael Bernstein.
