Is there a Zope product for keeping track of software packages, similair to Freshmeat? Google discovered talks about writing such a product in 1999 in one of Zope mailing lists, but I haven't found anything concrete. I haven't found any either. I've done some very preliminary work on spec'ing out such a system, and I intend to put it together "one of these days". If anyone is interested in collaborating on such a product, email me - some help would be nice. -- Paul Winkler home: http://www.slinkp.com "Muppet Labs, where the future is made - today!"
Hi Paul, Saw your message and decided to volunteer some time. I don't have a lot to spare either, but am willing to invest what I can. What did you have in mind?? Michael On Friday 05 July 2002 09:32 am, Paul Winkler wrote:

I wasn't specifically thinking of freshmeat per se, but what I want to do overlaps with freshmeat quite a bit, and it would benefit from being made more generally useful. I'm building a site to list audio & music software for linux. It needs to enable searching by various criteria, contributions and updates from readers, user reviews of software, and some kind of bulletin-board style commentary for shorter comments. All I have so far is a very rough mockup of a listing page, and some notes here: http://www.slinkp.com/linux/soundapp_site_roughs/ Note that most of the links from the mockup don't point to anything. One thing I'm *not* going to provide is a software rating system. had lots of discussions about this with my target audience, and nobody wanted it. Of course, if someone else implements it, I won't complain - I'll just add a config option to disable it. :) -- Paul Winkler home: http://www.slinkp.com "Muppet Labs, where the future is made - today!"
