I can see this could be problematic. With many people updating a "live" site, copying across an offline version in entirety would wipe out other updates.

Even if desirable, I confess I dont know HOW this would be done. Views anyone? I have been thinking about the same thing (NL calls are also expensive), maybe a 'checkout' of a branch of the object tree would work. Think of it like a RCS system. We could of course also take the CVS way, but this will be much harder. I was more thinking in lines of several people being responsible for separate subtrees they would maintain both locally and on the main Zope site. We would need some sync process like an 'checkin' with feedback reporting about changes outside the subtree.
