The DZUG (which has turned the Python Software Verband now) has
discussed a similar issue during their founding back in 2004. Have an
"association" incorporation in Germany that *usually* goes along with
being non-profit. However, none of our business is hampered by not
having it - quite opposite: as we don't have to stick to those limiting
criteria, we can do whatever we feel is best for our cause as long as we
can convince others to support us and our members that what we do is OK.

I haven't even touched this issue in board meetings as I don't know
anything about American tax issues, maybe I should have spoken up
against trying to become non-profit, but I guess I was somehow stuck in
group think.
