Is the LocalFS product an option?

AdaptableStorage is designed to do just this.  It maps ZODB objects to 
arbitrary storage hierarchies, and one option is the filesystem. 
Unfortunately, that project is on hold for a bit.  But LocalFS might be 
enough.
