There is some effort under way.

Her is a code snippet from Plone:
   <span i18n:translate="">Posted by:</span>
   <span tal:content="here/Creator">Poster Name</span>
   <span i18n:translate="">at</span>

As you can see, code will not be cluttered, and the translating efforts will
not be lost with updates.
