[Zope-CMF] how to shorten long CMF/Plone urls for emailing colleagues

yes.  goto 'preferences' and toggle 'Display IDs' - you can change the ID's
(now referred
to as a 'NAMEs') when you are editing the document.  You can also use the
rename button
in folder contents.

You are correctly using CMF/Plone.
