You could try to let your class inherit from ObjectManager (Zope) or
PortalFolder (CMF) which both provide support for folderish behaviour.

If I understood what you are trying to do correctly, you're
constructing an object containing one (or more) instances of another
object. That's IMHO exactly what folderish classes do.
