I can recommend MySQLUserFolder. 

Its code is very clean, software is simple and stable.
It's also based on very reasonable assumptions when it comes to matters
like sessions, cookies handling, etc.

It hasn't been upgraded for some time just because of vanishing
community factor I guess.

It's quite extensible. You have got "misc" table for additional
properties storage.
